Age of houses

Should you consider the age of house just like considering the age of car when you're buying a car? How old is too old for a house in your experience? Houses don't necessarily accumulate mileages like cars, but materials, wiring, plumbing, and HVAC do get older. There are still lots of houses built in 1950s and 1960s being lived in.
