Buy a home that is basically the same size as current rental?

So it’s pretty clear from my last post that we need to get in the game, if you will, when it comes to buying/owning rather than renting. There is a house we found that is in our same neighborhood so kids could stay at their current school no problem, completely renovated, and below our budget (a true unicorn for this area). The only thing is, it’s about the same square footage and has the same number of beds/baths as our current rental. The bedrooms are a bit more spacious and of course having a fully renovated home would be nice but does it make sense to buy a house if it’s not really much of an upgrade from our rental?
