Buy a remodel or renovate?

Considering home buying options and want to do my due diligence… is it better to buy a home with the intention of major remodeling or a home that’s much more expensive and newly remodeled? Concerned about the inconvenience, decisions, costs, time delays, finding honest labor… but also could save a lot of money upfront and end up with an even better home. What are the pros and cons? (We’re looking in Connecticut if that factors into your decision). Thanks in advance!
