We have an upstairs area that functionally is like a bedroom but county doesn’t consider it one.
It’s an upstairs addition loft kind of area that honestly kind of has some bad DIY vibes, was there before we bought it and not well executed. There is a full bathroom, large enough area for a bed, closet. Does seem like county knows about the space being an addition based on sq ft and there was a permit for something pulled at some point, can’t see details.
When we bought there was no door to this addition. Idk if there is a code reason preventing a door at top of stairs. Or if it’s logistically hard to install one there. Otherwise seems like seller would’ve just put a door there before selling to us to sell it as 4 beds instead of 3?
I’m trying to decide if before selling or renting I can / need to put a door there for it to be considered 4 bedrooms vs the county saying 3.
