About a month ago me and my partner viewed a property once and fall in love . We put an offer for a property which was listed just under 100K. This property is a full fixer. They accepted another man’s offer for 113K.
This person now is trying to privately sell the property since he believes is too much work for him. He’s been in contact with our agent.
We applied to get a mortgage to renovate the house since now it’s unliveable. We need to get an appraisal and for our future planning we need to create an estimate of all the extra money we might need for renovations.
The house has been abandoned for 25 years so there is garbage everywhere.
This is where it gets let’s say uncomfortable… The owner is requesting for us to pay 7K extra for his “cleaning services” (he cleaned 3 rooms of the house. There’s a total of 10 ish rooms). The owner is requesting for us to pay all the extra fees because he wants to earn 120K net. The owner won’t allow us to see the property before we put down 10% and give him our offer. He wont let the appraiser in either until we do this.
We haven’t seen the house since last month. We don’t know if it’s in the same shape, we haven’t seen what he “cleaned”, we need the appraiser to go in so we can know if we are approved for the mortgage to submit an offer…
On top of everything he is rude and condescending with our agent…
Is pretty clear that we need to see the house before putting an offer but he won’t allow it and even after we submit our offer he said we can go visit the house for a maximum of 2 hours.
We are truly speechless and flabbergasted of how to deal with this.
