Hi there my mother passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago on the 30th. She rented a home. I contacted her land lord to let them know of her passing and let them know I will have her belongings out by the 31st. Which would be a month. I was not on her lease. I have belongings in the home myself and my children we lived there briefly .
Her land lord called today asking when rent would paid. I told them I didn’t know for sure but definitely before the 31st of the next month, but everything would be cleaned and out by the end of the month. They did not like this answer and talked about an eviction notice.
My mother had a pretty large home with a lot of stuff, and I’m her only child and im 23 so I don’t know how this is supposed to go. So this is a big task for me. And I honestly don’t know when I’ll have it. Am I legally responsible for the rent? What will happen if it’s late?
