With so much content going digital, it seems that a built-in bookshelf (for actual books and not just space for curios) with rolling ladder might be seen as left over from a fading era.
Some companies have announced discontinuation of Blu-ray players, so media storage is also becoming antiquated.
Context: shelves and ladder would be installed in a loft / bonus area of a 3000sf house.
Edit: Thanks for all of the feedback. I got the shelves and rolling ladder at a very low cost during Borders bookstore closing some years ago. I hadn’t installed them yet and wanted to be sure it wouldn’t have a negative impact. This would be mostly for me with little additional sunk costs. So looks like I’ll move forward with the install plan.

Do built-in bookshelves / libraries still add to house resale value?
