Howdy, I wanted to see if you guys could help me understand the advantage/disadvantage of dual agency in our specific context.

We found a home we like, well within our budget, in an area we are familiar with, and are comfortable with it being a flip. (Bought at $160k asking $270k).

I toured the home today (no buyers agent) and all seemed as expected with flip quality work. I run a handyman business, so while I am NOT a home inspector I'm pretty comfortable at the initial sniff-test.

We have our mortgage preapproval through our preferred lender.

The hitch, is the listing agent is the brother of the seller.

The agent was forthcoming with this, and did tell me after he said he could do dual agency (after discussing our agent situation - we know someone we like but would be open to dual agency).

My question is - what benefit would a buyers agent be in this situation? If your answer is "looking out for your best interest" please be specific.

Thank you!
