I've bought and sold a couple of houses but I'm no expert.
My last house sold for $225k so I paid $13.5k for the realtor.
My current house will sell for 550k or so. The commission would be closer to $33k.
I do not understand how this house will cost $20k more expensive to sell when the two houses are 100 yards from each other. I feel bias against percentage-based compensation generally so i really need to understand what benefit I'd be losing by doing FSBO with an RE attorney.
As for the purchase effort, I have a new agent (friend of my son, connected to a good agency) and I'd be willing to have him do the research as... what, buyer's agent? I'd pay him according to whatever is standard. Buying will be a lot harder than selling.
Thanks for any advice.
