Flooring Company buy land?

Has anyone ever seem a flooring company purchase plots of land to build houses? We live in neighborhood where the owner recently listed the remaining plots for sale and noticed that a flooring company purchased three plots. Has anyone seen a company who installs hardwood flooring buy land and build houses?
