For context, I am located in Canada. Partner and I are in the process of closing on a new house in 2 weeks and I've gotten the unfortunate news that I will be getting laid off 4 days before closing (it will be my last day). My partner has been the one managing the mortgage process etc. and is the main point of contact with our broker. Partner is very adamant that we do not need to disclose anything and for some reason, he's very confident that all checks would've been done by then. I am not of the same opinion, I fear that lenders might do a last secondary for employment prior to closing which may cause us trouble.
My job is basically client based. I currently work for Client A with Company A but, Client A is now switching to Company B and Company B has given me a verbal hiring offer, I'm waiting for formal paperwork to follow right now. I'm going to be doing the same job, same client, just different employer. The job with Company B is probably going to come with a slight pay bump. I've given a lot of thought on how to move forward with this and not sure what to do.
I'm honestly lost and scared and would love to hear your advice or thoughts on how to navigate this.

- Option 1: Say nothing and hope for the best.
- Option 2: Disclose my new job to our broker, hoping this works. I'm afraid that probationary period might be an issue and a no-go, so possibly look into asking Company B waiving probationary conditions?
- Option 3: Start new job 2 days before closing, disclose the situation with my old employer and see if they can put me on my remaining PTO so that they don't need to pay me out on the last day. Essentially be on PTO up until closing so that if lender decides to call prior to closing I'd still be technically employed there.
I'm honestly lost and scared and would love to hear your advice or thoughts on how to navigate this.
