Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct sub to be posting this in, as I'm renting an apartment, not buying a house or anything. I was wondering if someone could explain early occupancy charges to me. I thought early occupancy referred to moving in before a lease begins. I'm moving into my apartment on the date the lease begins, yet I'm being charged almost a whole month's rent at move in, in addition to the basic deposit fees and whatnot, on the lease as "Prorated Amount of early occupancy". I don't think there's anything I can really do about it since I've already signed the lease, but I'd at least like to understand what's happening. Anything would be appreciated!
