hello! I’m hoping people on here can give me some helpful advice? or if you know anyone who’s academic dismissal got appealed what they did that worked?
I’m a sophomore, but have only been at my university for two semesters. It’s a big state school.
In my appeal letter I am planning on acknowledging my faults, but then discussing my mental health issues. They were previously undiagnosed and untreated, (unable to seek treatment in highschool due to family but i got treatment when I could (when my health insurance was updated, i aged out and had to reapply which was a long process). I have since been medicated and meeting with a psychiatrist, AND have been meeting with a counselor through the school. (I was also planning on having letters from these two)
Then, I would address that I changed my major to something I fully believe I will succeed in. I have a professor in the subject i took a class with this term who I talked with about my mental health and worked closely with to get my grade up to passing. I was planning on having a letter from her too.
Also; i would discuss how i have made a plan with my academic advisor to succeed, including tutoring and other resources through my university.
Anyways- any advice?
