Good evening,
I am only a couple of weeks away from my Dissertation(10k word Systematic Review) due date and am approaching completion. For whatever reason, I suppose for assurance, I scrolled through my final articles that I have discussed and drawn results from and noticed that five of the articles do not meet my search term criteria. Ie, they include the key word but not the AND word, such as 'KEY WORD' and 'REDUCE/IMPACT/INTERVENTION' etc.
I had some difficulties and noticed inconsistencies with some of the search tools I used and so It appears the articles were saved and included in my review without me noticing that the advanced search hadn't been fully applied.
I have completed a PRISMA flow diagram and am working towards completion and so it is simply too late to turn back and re-do the search.
Would it be possible to state something along the lines of
'The initial search found XYZ results which was cut down to (INSERT FINAL NUMBER) however, these 5 articles were used as, despite not fitting into the search term criteria, offered promising research/results/etc within the body of the text'
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated?
