For a few months now, I’ve been watching a house online that’s for sale. I wasn’t in a position to buy at the time but with a recent offer from my neighbor to buy my property, I made a trip from TX to FL and looked at the house. I had to sign a contract with the sellers agent to even view the home. Contract to last for 14 business days. It’s been a week, and yesterday the agent sent me the contract to go over and sign. I had questions and was back and forth with the agent all day, asking to modify a few changes and verify some info with the buyers about the disclosure. I specifically asked if she was representing me as well as the buyers and she said yes. I was excited to get the final contract back to sign to put the offer in but she said she would get it all clarified and have it to me this morning to sign and turn in. Later last night, I’m scrolling through a FB group, local to the FL town where I’m moving, and I see an anonymous post from someone who asked if there were any properties for sale in that area that matched exactly what my prospective house had. Within minutes my realtor is responding with links to this house and offering to show this person the listing that I’m in the process of writing a contract on WITH THIS AGENT. This wasn’t two hours after I confirmed with her that we were in a signed agreement and she was my realtor for this property. I texted her with a screenshot of the fb post and asked her what she was doing by responding to this, that I looked at this as her actively trying to create competition against me for this listing?! She said she was merely answering a question and offering to give this person information about a listing she had and was in no way creating competition for me. I am furious! And worst of all, the OP (and another person) was interested in the house!! I feel like I have just been stabbed in the back by this realtor and that she ABSOLUTELY created competition for me. On one hand, I understand wanting to get info out about the house as the sellers agent, but as the buyers agent, WE ARE ALREADY IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING IN THE OFFER!! She still disagreed that she was creating a competitive climate but offered to release me from the contract with her, which I accepted. Tell me if I’m wrong to feel betrayed by this incident? Now I don’t trust this woman at all and am afraid I’m going to lose this house!!! And there’s nothing I can do about it!!
