Hello, We are selling our house and have a unique purchasing request. A prospective buyer is from another country (also English speaking), has only communicated via email with our agent, arranged for a home inspection, but has not yet paid the inspector or viewed the report. They have retained a local attorney, though they have not yet paid a retainer (usually taken care of at the closing). No one has spoken to the buyer via phone, virtual etc. The only correspondence has been via email and the buyer wishes to purchase the house sight unseen.
Usually the purchaser would review the inspection and then proceed to contract, but the buyer is asking to go directly to contract and put funds in escrow.
Is this nuts or some kind of a scam?
