I’ve tried doing some research on this, and find a lot of conflicting opinions, so I’m hoping an appraiser or someone REALLY knowledgeable can chime in.
My house is 1100 sqft, 3bed/1.5 bath. We’ve got the space to move walls around (non load bearing) and free up some room for a standing shower potentially. We want to sell the house and move back home in about a year, so I’m wondering if it’s worth it to front the cost of this, and increase resale value, or if it’ll just have us break even. For a bit of context, my husband would do all of the work, so the cost would come from materials alone.
I’ve seen some research say it increases the house 5% in value, but idk how accurate that is. Any advice here would be appreciated!
