I am selling my home in Connecticut and all parties have signed the Purchase and Sale Agreement. The closing date is listed at 7/8 but my lawyer said today that the buyers won't be able to make that date, hopefully later that week. Timing is very tight for us and we cannot accommodate anything later. Will the buyers be in breach of contract if they can't close on that date?
Also, the only mention of closing date on the contract is one line, exactly as follows:
CLOSING: Seller shall deliver to Buyer a good and sufficient Warranty Deed, conveying marketable title on or before 7/8/24 [Closing Date].
Is that a contractual agreement to close by then?
Edit to add: basically, can I back out if they say they can't make that date?
