Put offer ($490k) on home (listed at $500k), after watching price drop significantly over 30 days. Offer was accepted immediately, and $5000 earnest money was sent. Seller's agent then advises us that the Seller's bank must approve the offer, and that could take 10 days. This was not advertised as a short-sale.
10 days later, bank refuses offer and we're told it will take $600k to purchase home. We passed, of course.
Same day we withdrew offer, home is relisted for $560k; $40k less than we were told the bank "required".
How is any if this legal? Certainly unethical. Property is in Tennessee, if that helps.
