For context: Onondaga County, NY. Working with a real estate agent and a real estate attorney.
I am looking for advice on what ways I can help to expedite this process. I am selling my home and there is a lien on my home showing from 1986. Basically, this mortgage was paid off but during the 4x that the mortgage was sold, the last bank was closed and liquidated by Bank of America. My lawyer and I both have requested a lien release from BoA but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to help expedite this process?
Our closing was supposed to be today, but the title company did not clear the title. I am frustrated as this was something I knew about (and yes there was work to be done by previous seller and lawyer to clear this, but it obviously never got done). The buyers of my home will not accept title insurance- they want the mortgage cleared or they walk. We are also contingent on a home that we are looking to purchase and I cannot wait for months for BoA to get back to us with a lien release. Is there anything else I can do? Would going to the county clerks office help at all?
TIA!
