Guten Tag! I’m starting IB DP2 and want to get enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Programme at TUM. It has always been my dream to study in Germany since they have the biggest industry of Auto-motives. Can a student or alumni please answer the following questions?

  1. What grades do I need to get into TUM? There is little to no information for undergraduates. I have good ecas and grades. I have Physics (5/7), Chemistry (5/7) and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches (7/7) at Higher Level.

  2. The website states the program is only available in German but on other websites it says that it is available in both German and English to facilitate international students. I currently have German ab initio SL and we will study up to A2 level. Do I need to get to B1 level and also give some sort of test? Also, if it’s only available in German, is it difficult to study in it?

  3. My main interest is in automotives but I have been suggested to go for mechanical to keep my options open because then I can get a job and specialize in any field I want. Which one is better?

  4. Is a masters Programme available for high schoolers? For example, Imperial College has a direct Masters Programme and no bachelors which is basically an integrated Masters Programme. Does TUM offer this?

Please help me out. I have a meeting with my counselor very soon and would like to discuss my university options further. Danke!
