I’m having a bit of a career crisis and hoping for some advice, and I'm looking to potentially joining the student waters again. I have a 3-year undergrad in International Business and a fast-track generic MBA (finished in 1 year, graduated valedictorian).
Looking back, I’m realizing these degrees feel pretty useless in today’s job market, especially with how quickly things are changing.
Here's my professional background:
I’ve learned so much from these roles and I felt like this experience would give me a competitive edge in the job market. But it hasn’t. I’m struggling to land anything beyond low-level, replaceable jobs.
I don’t want to spend my life in roles that AI will replace or constantly worry about layoffs. I also do not have any industry I "want" to work for. My biggest motivator in giving someone 10+ hours every day, for creating outputs I do not own is money. Ecommerce is something I lucked into as my first job.
So, I'd love to know:
a) What career paths (preferably AI-related) are the most in demand?
b) Are there any graduate programs worth pursuing? Programs that would accept someone with an educational/career background like me and that would give someone with my background an edge in landing better roles after graduation?
I got my MBA in early 2021, so I've been in the job market for only 4 years, but I’m feeling pretty lost with how fast the job market is changing, and I want to make a smart, future-proof investment in my career. Any advice, insights, or personal experiences would mean a lot. Thanks in advance , and wishing everyone an amazing 2025! <3

Here's my professional background:
- Head of Branding & Influencer Management for a cosmetics startup (promoted after 4-5 months from Ecommerce Platform Manager). 13-14 months total
- Team Lead (more like middle management) at an eCommerce SaaS company (late stage startup), managing the global tech team and people doing repetitive, tedious tasks. Promoted from Sales Rep 3 months into the role after the old team lead quit due to toxic work culture. 9 months total
- Most recently, finished a project-based role at one of the largest eCommerce companies in the world, where I was replaced by AI after 2 months.
