We put in an offer on an FSBO house last night to expire at noon today. We are working with a realtor and seller is not. They said they needed to run the offer past their estate lawyer first. No big deal, we told them to let us know if they needed a little more time. Just heard back that their lawyer needs a week to review and we will be lucky to hear back before July 8. That’s ridiculous, right??
Our offer is now expired and if they come back and want to accept we can always rewrite the offer. How strict should we get on this? Tell them we need an answer tonight? (Or Monday - I have no idea if lawyers work weekends but seems like they should if on retainer? Idk). Tell them our offer will drop if we have to rewrite? We don’t think letting them putter around for a week waiting for other offers to come in would be smart on our part.
