Question about duplex triplex

Let's say I legally rent a unit from a duplex or triplex. I paid the rent on time every single month to the owner. Suddenly, the duplex owner is evicted because he failed to pay the mortgages, monthly payment etc, etc,.

That means I get evicted too correct? how do I deal with or avoid this situation?
