Is it common for realtors to do this because they don’t want to show a house? We are searching in different areas, so we don’t have a designated buyer’s agent, but twice now, we’ve been told by agents that we have contacted that a home is already under contract, even when it’s not. I’m assuming they don’t want to deal with out of towners who could be wasting their time. It just sucks, because we obviously can’t see a house without a realtor. I’ve even reached out to the listing agents for a tour, and they seem very disinterested or unmotivated.
I guess I’m not sure what I’m looking for here. Because we aren’t tied to any one area(we are currently looking in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio), I’m not sure how to proceed when we find a house online and just want to see that one. The areas we are looking in are pretty slow/dead, and homes take a while to sell there, so I would have thought realtors would be more eager to show homes, but maybe they are dual career, and don’t have as much time as full timers. Any advice?
