Should I quit law school and apply for something new?

Hello everyone!

I have been in law school for 1 and half a year now and it has been a very challenging time, both mentally and academically. I am not saying that I hate law or the subjects, they are quite interesting but it has been taking a toll on me, in various ways and I have been thinking about quitting ever since last summer.

When I applied for law school, it wasn’t really genuine. My parents (especially my father) pressured me to apply and I went with it, because at that time I didn’t really have a better idea. I had other options of course, but I chose law because those other options were not to my father’s taste. And I regret it now, so much. The last exam season was one of the lowest points in my life and I failed two classes, even when I studied a month for each exam. I just feel like that I shouldn’t feel like this. I should enjoy taking university courses, right? And it costs a lot of money (my dad is paying for the course) which makes me feel even more guilty because they are paying for a course that I don’t even like.

Would I be a complete failure if I told my parents that I want to leave this behind? Would it be okay if I actually went and studied something else, even if it meant that it would be a “less valuable” degree in my father’s eyes? And if I choose to do so, how could I even tell them? I don’t really know who to ask, so I would appreciate the advice. Thank you!
