Success on Zillow…?

Hey yall, I’ve been looking to move out of my apt & have been looking for places (both homes & now recently apts as well) on Zillow. I’ve noticed a pattern of sorts. Someone will list a house for rent, I contact them, & then they switch up saying it’s for sale? Is this a common strategy amongst Zillow listers to boost the traffic they get on that listing or what’s their deal? It’s happened to me & my roommates so much… we’re all a bit discouraged because it seems like we won’t find anything. I’m trying to be as positive as I can but it’s just frustrating when the place we live in right now has become drastically unsafe. Has anyone else experienced something like this on Zillow?
