Test average was a 2.5/25 on my last calculus final. Is this fair?

So basically last Friday was my calculus final exam. The thing is that for this exam one of the newer engineers was gonna make it for all the sections they calculate one in the university. This engineer usually gives calculus two and differential equations meaning that there isn’t any study guides made by him.

While studying for the exam, I followed my professors, advice and study with my notes and three other books that he recommended. Mind you that the professor in charge of making the exam did not provide any type of study guides prior the day.

I only needed six points out of 25 which in my opinion is a more than manageable grade to achieve on most courses at my university.

Usually the average for a calculus one final exam is around 13 to 18. But this time the average grade was a 2.5. And the highest grade being an eight.

Personally, I find this unfair. How come the average of a class of 20+ students be not even we half of the points of the exam. It’s a damn 10 percent.

On Monday, I was thinking of going to the engineering faculty and reporting a notice about this exam. I am aware of the university will probably not allow us so we take the test, but I want to make them a bit more conscious about their decisions for the future of the course.

Is this fair at all?
