I am going in on a house with my parents. They will reside in it, I will not. (I already have my own mortgage on my condo, they don't currently own any property.) I am paying most of the down payment, we're splitting the mortgage about 50-50. They spoke to a mortgage broker today who told them that I can be on the title, but I cannot be on the loan, and I'm just checking in to see if that's accurate? I wanted to be a co-borrower so nobody gets into messy tax issues with gifting money, so I'd rather just be a co-borrower but the mortgage broker said that's not allowed and I'm unclear why. Any ideas from anyone? This property is in Nevada.
