Hi,
I own a duplex in Indiana. I used to live in one side and rented the other. Then I moved out of state and have rented both sides for several years using a friend as a property manager.
-I have taken tax depreciation every year (~20 years).
-It is titled in my name with the original mortgage.
-I will paid off the mortgage in 2025.
Any suggestions on how to structure ownership after I pay off the mortgage? Trust? LLC? other? I plan to keep it and continue renting.
My primary concerns are liability and taxes/inheritance, rather than cash flow.
Thanks for any insight you might have.
