Using stylus for touchscreen laptop?

Im not talking about those latops that turn into ipads. I'm talking about using a stylus on a touchscreen iPad to make notes. If you saw someone in class, what would u think. I don't really care about what others think, but I wanted second thoughts and if this was a good idea.
