What's the normal studying material given by professors?

Is it normal to just be given a 1300 page english book while lectures are in a different language + slides with almost no text, just pictures. Or either just slides with text, nothing else?

I've read that people usually get recorded lectures, slides, pdfs, lecture notes and even more material.

Am I wrong or my university is just s***?
