You must have really great lawyers

I read people's posts here and -- time and time again -- the OPs mention they have a lawyer. I'm simply curious...why do you ask your legal questions here when you can simply pick up the phone and get the correct and appropriate-to-your-situation answer directly from your attorney?

This behavior makes me wonder if many of you all really just claim to have retained an attorney, but haven't in real life. I can see that to claim it makes you feel a little more powerful saying it here, but when reading the substance of many of your posts, I can usually tell that there is no lawyer in your picture really.

Not to mention, the image we readers get of the legal world is that most attorneys are incompetent. If you have to ask strangers on Reddit, then clearly you either don't trust/like your lawyer or you are second-guessing their advice. But I still have my suspicions that you even have a lawyer working with you.

So to those of you who make it up, why do you do it? Why tell us you do when you don't? Use a throwaway to reply if you worry about your rep.
